By prayer:
1 - We have prepared for
you a short
prayer service to be used four times a day: in the morning, at noontime, in the early evening and at the
close of the day. The practice of short
prayer during the day is a practice with deep Christian
roots.
Here is a form of prayer for
you use during the day.
2 - At noontime on
Wednesdays we will gather at the Altar for prayer. Each week we will lift up members of our parish family in our parish
prayer cycle, along with the concerns of the parish community, our ministries, and the larger
world.
By fasting and self-denial:
We are encouraged to fast
one day a week. A fast can begin at
sundown and conclude the following sundown. As you fast, place the funds you save aside
for a gift to a ministry. Self-denial can
simply mean taking a day and giving it to God.
This is the true meaning of Sabbath, for it is a day
of rest to be with God and recover our humanity. Try to find a regular time during your week
to deny your self desires, and rather seek God’s will for your life.
By reading and meditating on
God’s Holy Word:
Read the lessons assigned for Sundays and meditate on what they are inviting you to consider for your life.
Engagement with Haiti
There are many ways to keep Haiti front and center. The Episcopal Diocese of Haiti is receiving
help and support from the Episcopal Church and through Episcopal Relief and
Development. You can go to the Episcopal
Church’s website or ERD’s website for updates.
Please continue to donate as you can.
In time we will be asked to do more so pray that this parish is prepared
when the call comes.
