MESSAGE 2: "Bring a Friend to Church" Event Rev. Geoff Curtiss invites you to the “Bring a Friend to All Saints” cocktail party! May 31st from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The aim is reaching out to people whose only connection or notion of All Saints is from being a friend of a parishioner. We are asking people to start thinking about who they'd like to bring to this short, fun filled event. We are asking parishioners to bring a neighbor or friend and a bottle of wine. The church will provide hors d'oeuvres, soft drinks, and child care. The success of this event will rest in our collective ability to invite our friends and neighbors!
Have you received the EVITE we sent you recently? Don't forget to forward it to your friends and neighbors. You can RSVP directly to the EVITE, e-mail back to the e-Parish News or call 201-792-3563 ext 10 to let us know you are coming and to confirm the number of guests you are bringing.
If you have further questions, ideas, or would like to contribute, please contact Alexa Ralff at 201-725-5862 or via e-mail at mymatandme@yahoo.com.
MESSAGE 3: Day School Thespians Perform! Day School Thespians Perform Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Join Charlie and his friends on their magical journey through Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory when the All Saints students perform “Willy Wonka.” The performances will be held in the church on Friday, May 30th at 6:30pm and Saturday, May 31st at 11am. Seats will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis at no charge.
MESSAGE 4: New Morning Mid-Week Eucharist Service Beginning on May 29th, we are adding a mid-week service at 7:15 a.m. We will celebrate a Holy Eucharist on Thursday mornings for those who plan to be away on weekends. This service will be similar to the Sunday service using the lessons for the coming Sunday. The service will be less than 30 minutes in length but will be an opportunity for you to stay connected to God and our ministry here in Hoboken.
MESSAGE 5: Many Hands Make Work Light! It is again the beautiful season of the year when our property maintenance team gets ready to take care of the lawn at Holy Innocents throughout the summer. The tasks involve mowing the grass, weed whacking if needed, and picking up trash or sweeping the sidewalk. The frequency depends on how many volunteers sign up to do this work. It is fun, easy, gets you outside in the fresh air, and helps maintain a church asset by improving the appearance of the neighborhood, in addition to reflecting positively on All Saints.
If you are able, willing and ready please contact Steve Ralff. He can be reached via e-mail at steveralff@yahoo.com.
MESSAGE 6: Nomination Committee Work There are several important boards that require interested and committed people to serve. We need individuals who are interested in serving on the Vestry or the Day School Board or the Jubilee Center Board. We elect people in June to these boards; they begin serving July 1st. The Vestry is the governing body of the whole organization and people are elected to two year terms. The Vestry meets the 1st Wednesday of the month. The Vestry appoints a body to oversee the work of the Day School. The Day School Board is composed of parishioners, parents and at large community folk who bring enthusiasm and expertise to the work of our Parish Day School. The Day School Board meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month. The Jubilee Center Board is appointed by the Vestry annually, in their role as the Community Development Corporation, to oversee the work of the Center. This board meets monthly on the 4th Monday of the month.
Meryl Longval is chair of the nominating committee along with the Rector. If you are interested in being nominated please speak to one of them.
MESSAGE 7: New Parent-Child Choir There is a new choral project forming at All Saints!
A parent-child choir is being formed for the 9:30 AM service under the leadership of our music director and choir master. If you and your child are interested in joining this new venture, please contact Joshua Mauldin at jmauldin@allsaintshoboken.com.
MESSAGE 8: Annual Parish Meeting The Annual Parish meeting will be held on Sunday, June 15th at 10:30 AM. At that time we will elect members of the Vestry and delegates to Diocesan Convention. We will review the financial health of the organization. Any business to be brought before the meeting must be submitted in writing prior to Tuesday, June 3rd.
MESSAGE 9: Baptisms at All Saints The next date for Baptisms is Sunday, June 22. Since there is a long season between Pentecost Sunday and Holy Cross Sunday, we have added this date for baptisms in the summer time. Please speak to Rev. Curtiss or Rev. Bishop for further details.
If you are interested in baptizing your child or if you would like to be baptized, please call the Parish Office at (201) 792-3563 ext. 10 or e-mail Anahi Galante at agalante@allsaintshoboken.com; we will send you an application. Please return the completed application to the attention of the parish administrator as soon as possible.
